Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 5/32 inches (2.94 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per pale Or and Brick Red, a chevron barry wavy of four Argent and Azure, in chief a sea horse naiant counterchanged of the field. Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Brick Red scroll inscribed "HIT THE BEACH" in Gold letters.

Symbolism
Brick red and golden yellow are the colors for the Transportation Corps. The sea horse, a fabulous creature which drew the chariots of the sea gods, indicates the boat transportation function of the Battalion. The chevron is a heraldic symbol of support and the wavy bars depict the sea, these charges symbolize the Battalion's mission of providing and operating landing craft for moving supplies and troops from ship to beach in support of forces in joint amphibious operations.
